Convert Elemental Dmg To Chaos Dmg Poem
Hey guys! I need help understanding mechanics of damage conversion when CHAOS damage is the end result. This makes my Lightning damage Chaos damage. Now i need to know the mechanics of applying damage modifications. So first all my Lightning damage sorces add up, 300 from bow, 200 from aura, armor modifiers etc. Then it gets multiplied by Lightning damage% nodes right? Or Lightning damage with weapons (Arcing blows/Elemental Damage with weapons)? Either way, some of these add up first right? Now what I wanna know, do ELEMENTAL DAMAGE nodes (not weapon, pure elemental) affect my Lightning damage before its converted to chaos damage by bow effect? Since skilling them makes my dps go up slightly, like 20 dps for 8% node. Do these PURE ELEMENTAL DAMAGE nodes only affect my Fire and Cold damage since I have a few small added cold and fire dmg's, It seems to me to only affect those. Since if it applied to already multiplied Lightning damage I think it would show more increase. Now it struck to me that maybe only Weapon elemental damage nodes apply before conversion, but elemental damage nodes (non weapon) do not affect my Lightning damage since it is already converted to chaos and chaos is not elemental? CAN ANYONE CLARIFY HOW DOES THIS CONVERSION MECHANIC WORK? I need to know so I can fully optimize my character, and googling and searching forums for days now with no real anwser. Could ANYONE clarify this please? | Posted by dezignedelic on Sep 26, 2014, 11:41:47 AM |
Converted Damage Main article: Damage conversion There are many skills, supports, and item mods which will convert one type of damage into another. Converted damage is affected by modifiers from both the type of damage it was converted from, and the type of damage it is converted to. Seems both apply. :S | Posted by dezignedelic on Sep 26, 2014, 11:59:04 AM |
It works like any other conversion - all your base lightning damage is also chaos and will benefit from either group of mods. So you got base damage * (1 + sum of all increases) * (1 + multiplier1) * (1 + multiplier2)... That 'sum of all increases' can be chaos damage, elemental damage, lighting damage, weapon elemental damage, projectile damage... Conversion occurs before any modifiers are applied. As Raics mentioned, the Converted Damage will also benefit from modifiers to the original Damage type. In this case, your Chaos Damage will benefit from Increased Elemental Damage. This post you found earlier gives a simplified example of Fire to Chaos Conversion. It's accurate, and can be applied to your situation. The important thing to take away from Conversion rules is: Increased/Reduced Damage always applies in one single step. The reason you only see small increases in Damage is simply because all Increased and Reduced type modifiers are additive. If you already have a total of 300% Increased Damage, then adding another 8% Increased Elemental Damage has a very, very minor effect. | Posted by on Sep 26, 2014, 12:53:29 PM |
Oh great. Now i understand. Occured to me maybe the Increased Elemental damage maybe only applied to Cold/Fire dmg since my Lightning damage is not elemental any more. Anyway this clears it up, will know how to calculate from now on. Thank you all :) | Posted by dezignedelic on Sep 26, 2014, 1:38:12 PM |
Oct 29, 2017 In this guide we are going to investigate exactly how Damage Conversion works in Path of Exile by exploring a few different examples. Don’t let the numbers scare you! Path of Exile: Damage. Mar 07, 2016 then convert 100% fire to chaos, so now the damage is 100 chaos, with 'Chaos, Fire, Cold, Spell' tags. After the conversion, modifiers with the above tags take into account. In your case, '10% increased Spell Damage' and '10% increased Elemental Damage' both match the tags of the resulting damage, so they take effect.
